Embroidering knitwear is a great idea during the cold fall and winter months and custom embroidered beanies (especially with puff embroidery on them) can really make you stand out while keeping you warm!

On this episode of Embroidery Hub, Laura goes over how to embroider 3D puff beanies on our Ricoma commercial embroidery machine, the 1501-TC.

Embroidering beanies and 3D puff embroidery are tricky enough on their own (especially if you haven't done them before), but in this video, you'll learn 3D puff embroidery tips and how to effectively embroider on this form of knitwear using an embroidery machine.

Embroidering on knitwear requires special practices, as it causes machine embroidery issues like puckering and loss of registration. However, with the embroidery tips that Laura shares, beanie embroidery and 3D puff embroidery will no longer be a painful process.

What you'll need:

  • 2-3 mm foam
  • Beanie
  • 3D puff design
  • Heat gun or hair dryer
  • Tweezers or snips
  • Cutaway or tearaway stabilizer
